The Origin of Miffy

Miffy is a source of joy and inspiration for children all over the world. That is why she is also the most beloved rabbit in the world. In 1955, Miffy sprang from the creative pen of Dick Bruna. Since then, Miffy has been an indispensable part of life. During a holiday, Dick Bruna tells his son a story about a white rabbit every night before going to bed. This rabbit eventually becomes the inspiration for Miffy. Because he liked drawing a dress more than pants, he turns Miffy into a girl. What first started as a rabbit with clumsy ears, eventually became the iconic figure we know today. Miffy is loved worldwide and appeals to children all over the world with her adventures in more than 30 books.

Miffy's stories, which revolve around themes such as friendship, curiosity and discovering the world, are designed to offer children a sense of security and familiarity. Miffy wants to make children worldly-wise and many children recognize themselves in Miffy and her adventures. She is uncomplicated and innocent, is positive and open to new experiences.

While Miffy is known in the Netherlands by her typical Dutch name, in other countries she travels the world as 'miffy', a name that has been easy to pronounce in every language since 1996. Miffy, a symbol of safety and recognition, opens hearts and doors to new experiences for children.

Our Miffy wrapping line is made from 100% natural kraft paper and is available in a box of 24 toilet rolls. The switch to kraft paper emphasises our commitment to sustainability and innovation. We chose kraft paper because its production requires less energy and water than traditional recycled toilet paper. Another important advantage is that kraft paper is naturally coloured and does not need to be bleached. A golden roll! It makes a clear distinction with white toilet paper that is often bleached. Kraft paper is therefore better for nature, and therefore the perfect match for Miffy.
