IMPACT REPORT 2025

We are doing our level best. This is what happened in 2025. Let’s be honest: nobody wakes up thinking, “wow, toilet paper!”. But behind such an ordinary roll, The Good Roll now has a much bigger story. A story that starts with bamboo in Ghana, continues through our paper chain, and, via The Good Roll Foundation, also touches upon better sanitary facilities in schools. 2025 was an important year in that development. In this Impact Report, we show what happened behind the scenes, the steps we have taken, and what we are still working on. From bamboo in Ghana to sanitation in schools. Behind every roll, a whole chain.

You can read about this in our 2025 Impact Report:

From weeds to valuable income

In the green Volta region, bamboo grows among cassava, banana, and palm trees. This is where a significant part of our paper supply chain begins.

We source bamboo locally and work together with farmers and partners to further develop the chain. In the Impact Report, we look not only at how much bamboo is processed, but also at the people behind that raw material.

In the report, you can read about, among other things:

  • how we register and track farmers via Farmerline
  • what participation in the bamboo chain means for farmers and their households
  • how income from bamboo is spent within households
  • what we have learned and what we want to conduct further research into in the coming years

Behind every roll, a whole chain.

A factory that changes lives

In Akosombo, local bamboo is processed into pulp: the basis for our paper products. Behind this production is a team that contributes to building our paper chain in Ghana every day. "I was promoted within nine months. As a guy my age, you rarely get that opportunity. It has boosted my self-confidence enormously."Eliot (27), Assistant Manager In the report you can read: How work and development are organized within our factory, how our employment conditions compare to the local context, and which energy sources we use in the production process

Toilets that save lives

Through The Good Roll Foundation, we are working on better sanitary facilities at schools in Ghana. Because a clean and safe toilet is far from a given for every child there.

In the report, you will read:

  • What our sanitary projects mean for schools and their students
  • How we support girls with menstruation and hygiene
  • The story of Ama (14) and other children

The future: biochar and even tighter circularity

In the report you will read: Our biochar plans: from residual flows to new applications How we work together with sheltered workshops in the Netherlands and Belgium How growth helps us continue to build on our mission. Our B Corp score of 151.2, well above the threshold for certification

change the paper chain invest in the future

More growth literally means more impact. The more bamboo pulp we produce, the more farmers we bring on board, the more trees we save, the more toilets we build. That is why we are expanding. And you can invest in this change.
