World Toilet Day

Wereld Toilet Dag

November 19 - World Toilet Day
Last Wednesday, November 19, was World Toilet Day: a day on which we draw attention to issues surrounding sanitation. World Toilet Day is an initiative of the United Nations and highlights a problem that remains invisible to many. In fact, a staggering one-third of the global population does not have access to a safe and clean toilet. And that is far too many. This shortage has major consequences for the health, well-being, and future of millions of people. It pollutes water, spreads diseases, and makes millions of people ill every year. Each year, more than 430,000 people die from diarrhea due to poor hygiene. A toilet is not a luxury, but an urgent necessity!

The aftermovie 2025

 The Good Roll Foundation
For The Good Roll Foundation, every day is World Toilet Day, and we know like no other how important toilets are. It is about more than just a practical facility; toilets represent safety, health, and dignity. That is why we are committed to making a difference every day. With 50% of the net profit donated by The Good Roll BV, we build toilets in Ghana, primarily in schools. So far, this has led to 251 toilets being built, giving 15,476 people daily access to a safe and hygienic place. In addition, we have helped 8,288 girls with reusable menstrual products and MHM education, so they can continue to attend school during their cycle.

Our goals for 2026:
Our ambition is great. We are proud that there are now 251 toilets, but in 2026 we want to build 1,000 safe and sustainable toilets. Not because it sounds good, but because every toilet literally changes a life: it keeps children healthy, it prevents girls from dropping out of school during their menstruation, and it gives entire communities dignity and safety. With 1,000 circular school toilets and proper water and hygiene facilities, we can give 15,000 children and their families access to a safe and clean environment. And with 10,000 sets of reusable menstrual products, supplemented by education, we ensure that girls can simply continue to attend school during their period.

World Toilet Day x The Good Roll
To mark this special day, we organized a dinner at The College Hotel on behalf of The Good Roll. We reflected on what we have achieved together and on everything that still lies ahead. What happens when you fill a room with more than a hundred like-minded impact-makers, inspiring talks, and a delicious dinner? You get an evening where impact truly becomes tangible. Stories were shared about building safe toilets, insights into social entrepreneurship, and the power of community. A cheerful highlight was the photobooth from Jongens van de Photobooth, which resulted in many spontaneous and valuable memories.

Thank you to everyone who attended. Because of you, the impact keeps rolling.
