Circle of Goodness Part 7: Building toilets and partner with Safisana

Hey, remember? A few months ago we shared the great news that we want to become the first Fair Trade toilet paper in the world! In our blog series, we have shared every two weeks the steps we will take to become Fair Trade. Today we have come full circle; read the latest blog here!

Circle of Goodness

Quick recap! The first toilet paper brand that works closely with farmers. With our 'Circle of Goodness' we have a plan to ensure that the revenue does not disappear into the pockets of big companies, but goes directly to the farmers in Ghana. These farmers grow bamboo for us, while we help them with extra income, so that they get their well-deserved share of the toilet paper market.

As you may have read in our previous blogs, we are going to collaborate with great partners such as Fair Trade, B-Corp, Solidaridad and Farmerline. With them we dream of a world where entrepreneurship equals caring for our planet and its inhabitants.

It’s not just about being environmentally friendly; it’s also about fairness. That’s why we follow the ten principles of the World Fair Trade Organization. These principles ensure that all farmers have equal opportunities, the chain is transparent, and that no child or forced labor is involved. We also strive for fair pay, combating discrimination, ensuring good working conditions and promoting gender equality. Our goal is to empower farmers without making them completely dependent on bamboo income. Some call it a social enterprise, we call it common sense!

Collaboration Safisana

Remember our partnership with Safisana? Safisana is a social enterprise based in Ghana that focuses on converting organic waste into valuable products in low- and middle-income countries. We recently started working with Safisana to stimulate bamboo growth through experimentation with organic fertilizers, with the aim of taking bamboo production in Ghana to a higher and more sustainable level!

This partnership speaks volumes about our shared vision. Together, we are not just tackling sanitation; we are innovating, finding sustainable solutions and changing lives. Safisana’s goal of turning waste into valuable resources aligns seamlessly with our commitment to sustainability.

Building toilets

In addition to the experiments with bamboo, we continue to build toilets in Ghana. Access to sanitation is a basic right! And we are not just building toilets – we are working with local communities to create a better future. Our toilets, designed by Ghanaian architects and engineers, help us with their local craftsmanship as they know best what they need. So we are not only using bricks and cement, but also the power of local workers.

And yes, this commitment is not just about restoring dignity and boosting health, it also gives those neighborhoods the tools to take charge of their own development. So, our toilets are not just bricks and walls; they are symbols of collaboration, progress, and the serious impact of working together!

Impact beyond numbers

The impact we want to make is not quantifiable. It is in the stories of the people whose lives we have changed, positive impact on entire communities and new dreams for the future. It is in the smiles of people who now have access to a clean and safe toilet, in the dreams of children who can go back to school as normal, and in the sense of dignity for families.

As we close the door on this blog series, we are extremely grateful for every investor, every supporter, and all the lives we have touched. But hey, we don’t stop here! It’s a constant stream of impact, embracing sustainability, and building a Circle of Goodness beyond what we can imagine!
