At The Good Roll, it’s not just about making great toilet paper. We’re aiming for a chain reaction that goes beyond the farmers who grow our most important raw material: bamboo. Our goal? To make a real impact in the lives of local communities. It’s not just about paying fair wages; it’s about tackling bigger issues, like building clean toilets in schools and fighting gender inequality, especially for girls and women. We’re not here to sell toilet paper; we’re here to change lives for the better, starting with farmers and reaching entire communities.

Improving Local Lives

In 2023, almost all Ghanaians were struggling to make ends meet, especially in rural areas, where almost 3.7 million people were living on $1.90 a day. Our goal is not just about creating jobs; it’s about fighting this poverty. So far, our old mill (sold in 2023) has created over 70 jobs, bringing a breath of fresh air to local villages. And guess what? It also helps local shops and taxis! More people earning means more spending in the neighborhood. And we don’t just talk numbers; we walk the talk by adhering to principles that ensure fairness and good working conditions for all. That’s why we’re proud and determined to continue this impact trend with our new pulp mill and increase it many times over.

In Ghana alone, almost 28% of children between the ages of 5 and 17 are involved in child labor, and we just don’t think that’s right. That’s why we have strict rules against it. And it’s not just about words; it’s about actions. We only work with producers who can give us a formal statement about this. To ensure that we have the best practices, we do our best to adhere to the principles of the WTFO, which means that we also ensure that our employees have good working conditions in our factory. A safe and healthy working environment for employees is essential to maintain this impact on the local village.
