Why is bamboo more sustainable than 100% European recycled paper?
Toilet paper made from bamboo has many advantages compared to regular toilet paper made from trees or waste paper.

First of all, bamboo is a type of grass that can grow up to a meter per day. Bamboo matures after about a year, much faster than a regular tree. The average time it takes for a tree to mature is 40 years. Therefore, less surface area is needed to produce bamboo toilet paper compared to regular toilet paper.

Another advantage of bamboo over wood is that bamboo plantations absorb 100 to 400 tons of CO2 per hectare. The bamboo plant does not die after being harvested for toilet paper; it grows again. After about a year, the plant is fully grown again and can be harvested again. Unmanaged bamboo forests hardly store any new CO2 because the bamboo has already largely grown.

Less emissions by rolling with bamboo
Besides the fact that bamboo toilet paper is incredibly soft and strong, it is also environmentally friendly. Bamboo absorbs a lot of CO2 during its growth. Furthermore, bamboo is a type of grass and grows up to 30 times faster than trees.

Another advantage of bamboo is that it absorbs 35% more CO2 than trees and produces 30% more oxygen than trees. By using bamboo toilet paper, you are not only assured of soft buttocks, but you can also wipe your bottom with peace of mind. The bamboo used for the production of our toilet paper comes from local Ghanaian farmers. For these farmers, the bamboo is currently a waste product, because it grows like a weed on the edges of their fields. Because the farmers can sell their bamboo to The Good Roll factory, the farmers in Ghana can generate extra income. The farmers receive a fair price for the bamboo they sell to The Good Roll factory, making the bamboo a Fairtrade product.
