The Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are seventeen goals to make the world a better place by 2030. They are a global compass for challenges such as poverty, education and the climate crisis. Read below to find out which goals you could contribute to by rolling with us!

SDG 3: Good health and well-being

A healthy future for everyone. Healthy people are the basis for healthy economies, and so premature death from disease or mental problems must be prevented. Especially in developing countries, there is sometimes little knowledge available about certain diseases and, partly due to the lack of clean sanitary facilities, children suffer from diarrhea.

SDG 4: Quality Education

The right to education is the foundation of all other human rights. Yet 121 million children have never been to school or have left school prematurely. Some of these children cannot go to school because there are no sanitary facilities or because girls do not have the same opportunities. In addition to building toilets, we also share knowledge about hygiene and health, and provide local education to children, in order to contribute to a better future.

SDG 5: Gender Equality

Did you know that women make up more than half of the world’s population? Yet, women still often face discrimination. In developing countries, menstruation is often associated with a lack of education, social stigma, and expensive sanitary products. These factors often force girls to stay home during their period, resulting in educational disparities and disadvantages compared to boys. As a result, girls miss an average of 3 months of education per year! We find this unacceptable and unnecessary. Thanks to our projects , girls can go to school more often, breaking down barriers!

SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation

In addition to SDG 6, the seventh Millennium Development Goal (MDG) also focuses on a more sustainable living environment. This goal aimed to halve the number of people without sustainable access to drinking water and basic sanitation, such as a toilet. In addition, three million people die each year due to poor water quality and lack of access to drinking water. The majority of these victims are children under the age of five. The Good Roll donates 50% of its net profit to building clean and safe toilets in Africa, thus contributing to this goal!

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth

According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the fight against labour insecurity is one of the priorities. In 2014, 201 million people were unemployed and 21 million people were victims of forced labour. We hope to create employment and stimulate local economies with our projects. This will make the labour market fairer, more equal and safer!

SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

We produce and consume without sufficient consideration of the impact on the planet's natural resources. The current situation is unsustainable and that is why we must "do more, with less". If we maintain the current way of life of developed countries, we will need raw materials for three planets! For this reason, all The Good Roll products are made from 100% recycled paper which is also biodegradable . We promote the growth of bamboo and trees, are CO2 negative , and protect biodiversity and aquatic life!
