The Good Roll x Benji's
Benji's Green Character
Benji's goes green. Literally and figuratively. The abundance of green plants immediately brings you into a chill urban jungle vibe. But the choice for 'green' is not only in the appearance, all choices that Benji's makes are as green as possible. Like the choice for hygienic paper, with The Good Roll.
There are few places where the urban jungle theme is implemented so well. Co-owner David Markx says that he wanted to create a place where both locals and tourists can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and find themselves in a green oasis. “Benji's is an (inter)nationally oriented all-day brunch concept where the focus is on healthy, fresh, colorful, modern and sustainable food. Inspired by the brunch culture and jungle vibes of Bali. We serve dishes from all over the world served with an Asian touch and tropical cocktails poured for the real breakfast champions.” Benji's has now opened three locations in Amsterdam: East, West and Nieuw-West.
More than just beautiful, also responsible
David not only values appearance and experience, but also sustainability and social responsibility. “Where possible, we choose sustainable and responsible. That also makes our concept credible, I think.” For example, Benji's does not use plastic, all disposables are made of wood or bamboo and two of the three locations do not use gas. The ingredients at Benji's are also as responsible as possible.
The transition to sustainable hygiene paper
Continuous optimization and improvement keeps Benji's on its toes. The team is constantly asking itself what could be more sustainable and better. "We like to work with smaller, sustainable brands, that fits our vision better. For example, we serve the Amsterdam beer brand Oedipus and we have coffee from Lot 61 from Amsterdam." And that's how the idea came about to take a closer look at the purchasing of hygiene paper. "We first used Tork, a big brand that you often see in the hospitality industry. We went looking for suppliers whose vision matches Benji's."
David first came into contact with The Good Roll during a visit to Vondelgym. He was keen on a partnership. “We share the same values and vision on corporate social responsibility. If we can make an impact together with our suppliers, or rather partners, and make the world a little better or more beautiful, then we will do so. For example, we also work with Marie Stella Maris, a mineral water brand that donates a fixed percentage of its turnover to sustainable water projects.”
“We are all about the story”
Benji's buys toilet paper, cleaning paper and paper towels from The Good Roll. "The quality is simply good. That is good from many brands. For us it is more about the story of The Good Roll. The sustainability and the impact make the deal worthwhile." The collaboration is still fresh, but David is positive about the future. "I hope that together we can still make a lot of impact, where it is most needed." Yes, we can only agree with that... let's make impact together!
