The African Art Line is back
It's been a while, but we're bringing back the African Art Line in a limited edition! Stay tuned and read why we chose this special collection.
The impact
Our goal is to put a different local artist in the spotlight every few months. That way we can show Europe how cool street art in Africa can be and what impact it has. African art is often unknown, even though their artwork is beautiful.
The product
Graffiti designs from local artists are carefully selected, and the illustrations are then transformed into fant-ass-tic wrappers. Fun to show and to give you the feeling of being on holiday on the toilet. For a limited time we have the Africa Art Line back in stock! Order your box of artwork here .
The artist
Mohammed Awdu , or Moh Awdu, is a contemporary versatile visual artist, born and raised in Nima, a suburb of Accra, Ghana. He has over 100 successful exhibitions and festivals to his name. He is also a mentor.
The Story
In addition to the beautiful artwork, there are stories attached to each individual design. Moh Awdu himself came up with the quotes for his artwork. In many African societies, symbols are used as a means of expressing certain messages or enforcing virtues, especially those that were considered vital to the survival and development of a community. By looking at a group of symbols, one can assess the values that the community holds dear, as they provide information about the historical activities that may have occurred to make people think in a certain way. For example, the Ga have several symbols that represent “Unity” – which is important to the people and is a consequence of traveling to a place where one may have had to fight against invaders.
“It is always my responsibility to use my art to educate and promote culture” Ga Samai
