International Day of Forests!
Today, March 21st, is the International Day of Forests. A day in the global spotlight where we celebrate one of the most important elements of our planet - forests! At The Good Roll, where our mission is as rooted in sustainability as trees are in the ground, we embrace this day with open arms.
Why does International Day of Forests exist?
Day of the Forests, or International Day of Forests, is an annual day established by the United Nations in 2012 and celebrated worldwide on March 21. This special day was created to raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests and to highlight the important role forests play in sustaining life on Earth.
Unfortunately, our forests are in dire straits. Deforestation, wildfires, and climate change are threatening them. Every year, vast swaths of forest are disappearing, which is really bad for us and the planet. Day of the Forests reminds us how important forests are and calls on everyone to take action. It is a wake-up call to take better care of our forests, protect endangered areas, restore places that are in bad shape, and not forgetting the importance of trees, even outside the forest.
International Day of the Forests stands for recognizing and celebrating the value of forests and trees for life on earth. It is a day to reflect on our responsibility to protect and sustainably manage these natural resources so that they can continue to contribute to our planet and its inhabitants.
Forest and Innovation
Each year, Day of the Forests has a specific theme that focuses on a particular area of forest conservation and management. This helps organizations, schools, and communities to organize events, awareness campaigns, and tree planting activities. These activities show how important forests are in our lives and encourage us to ensure that they are preserved for future generations.
This year’s theme is “Forests and Innovation”, where the focus is on innovating solutions to preserve, manage and restore the world’s forests. With the challenges of deforestation, climate change and the disappearance of animals and plants, it is more important than ever to think creatively and innovatively. This theme calls on us to work together, from scientists and businesses to you and me, by supporting innovative solutions and living more sustainably. Let’s use this year as an opportunity to show how much we care about our forests, by being creative in how we protect and preserve them for our future generation.
Why are forests so important?
About a third of our planet is covered by forests, which are incredibly important for life on Earth. They provide a home for most plants and animals and are important for combating climate change. Forests absorb CO2, the main greenhouse gas, and produce oxygen, which we all need.
Forests cover about a third of the Earth’s surface and are a vital foundation for life on our planet. They are not only home to much of the world’s biodiversity, but also play a major role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing oxygen.
We protect the forests too!
At The Good Roll, we strive to make positive changes every day. Our use of bamboo, which grows 30 times faster than trees and absorbs more CO2, underscores our commitment to eco-friendliness and innovation. Not only are we working to create a healthier world, we are also providing essential sanitation to communities in need, with 50% of our profits donated to building toilets in Ghana.
Are you joining us?
Day of the Forests is a perfect time to take concrete steps towards a more sustainable world. Here are some actions you could take:
Choose Sustainability : Consider using eco-friendly toilet paper like The Good Roll. This is not just a sustainable choice; it means you are supporting products that are made with respect for nature. What’s more, with your purchase you are helping to fund social projects, such as building sanitation facilities in areas like Ghana, where access to clean toilets is not a given.
Plant a Tree : You can join tree planting campaigns locally or even globally. When you plant a tree, you help restore ecosystems, increase biodiversity and reduce CO2 in the atmosphere. Every tree counts, because trees are essential for purifying the air and provide a habitat for various species of animals and plants.
Conscious living : This means that you actively make choices that are less harmful to the planet. Think of eating less meat, reducing waste through reuse and recycling, and choosing products that are sustainably produced. By being more conscious about your consumption pattern, you help reduce the demand for unsustainable products and stimulate the production of green alternatives.
By taking these actions, you contribute to the health and well-being of our planet, not just on Forest Day, but every day.
Stronger Together
On International Day of Forests, we remind ourselves of the power of collective efforts. By making conscious choices and working together, we can create a world where nature and humanity are in balance. At The Good Roll, we are proud of the role we play in this, and we thank you, our amazing community, for your continued support and participation in our shared mission. It’s time to flush good vibes into real action, because every flush can make a splash for a better world!
Celebrate with us and make a difference every day. Because together we are moving in the right direction for our forests, for our planet and for each other.
