The Story Behind Our Wraps
As you have probably seen, many of our rolls have fantastic wrappers that will cheer you and us up. The wrappers have a purpose, but unfortunately, that is not yet clear to many people. Each wrap line has its own story, carefully thought out by a team with a lot of design knowledge. We would love to tell you more about the story behind these wrappers!
Sustainable wraps
The Good Roll stands for sustainability, making a difference, but also for cheering people up with the smallest thing. We do our utmost to make as much impact as possible with the reach we have, so that more people can experience the simple necessity of having a toilet. Because let's be honest, it's crazy that this is not yet the case in 2024. Through our wrappers we want to encourage as many people as possible to support our mission and make the switch to sustainable toilet paper.
For some people, sustainability is not yet a priority. This can be due to financial circumstances, lack of interest or simply because they think it is nonsense. We also want to inspire these people to think a little bit about the purchases they make. And how nice is that if you can do that with cheerful toilet rolls that also have a story behind them!
But then you wonder, how sustainable are those wrappers? Our wrappers are made from 100% European recycled paper, just like the toilet paper and kitchen rolls you are used to from us. If we are already busy wrapping our toilet paper, we do it right. The ink we use on our wrappers may be called BIO or ECO ink. It is more environmentally friendly because vegetable oil is used instead of synthetic oil. The inks do not contain mineral oils or substances from genetically modified organisms (except soy oil) and are free of VOCs. These are organic and therefore better for the environment.
Of course it is better to order rolls without a wrapper, but even by buying rolls with a wrapper you are already doing so much good for the world! If you want to read more about this, read the previously written blog: https://thegoodroll.com/nl-nl/blog/72/waarom-gebruikt-the-good-roll-wikkels
Story behind our wraps
Let's start with The Cheerful Choice. This line contains six different wrappers, each with its own story. Mother Nature calls and everyone must answer, says Wikkel Bos. It can be awkward at times, but even the craziest moments can be funny. Wikkel Flowers shows that even the most beautiful flowers need fertilizer. It may not smell nice, but flowers welcome it to keep blooming beautifully. After rain comes sunshine, says Wikkel Wolk. But camping with a toilet roll in your hand can still feel a bit uncomfortable. Animals also fart and find it hilarious, says Wikkel Wildlife. From bears to rabbits, everyone enjoys their own wind music. Wikkel Mushrooms explains why some mushrooms stink: gnomes use them as toilets. It's a funny lesson in hygiene. Wikkel Mountains explains that mountains, despite their tough appearance, also love poop and pee jokes. They have a mountain of humor.
We also have The Panda Edition, a real winner. This line is all about 'When nature calls'. These wraps brighten up your toilet and are also super stylish, a real eye-catcher. The Wikkel Tiger stands for the beautiful sound and the impact they can make: 'hear me roar'. The Wikkel Mountains stands for perseverance and the quote that goes with it is: 'The best view comes after the hardest climb'. Wikkel Beach gives you the feeling of the pleasure of the sea. Wikkel Dragon beautifully brings this fictional animal to the fore; sometimes you have to visualize things that aren't there! Wikkel Waves tries to make you realize that you get the furthest when you go against the waves: 'Keep on riding the waves'. And last but not least, Wikkel Bird! This beautiful picture wants to show you that you can sometimes look from a different perspective to perhaps come to other insights.
Limited Editions
A few times a year we release a limited edition. One of them is the African Art Line, this year featuring a collaboration with the amazing Mohammed Awudu, aka Moh Awudu. Mohammed Awudu, a true advocate for positive change, is actively involved in youth work in Ghana. The six scrolls in our African Art Line are decorated with real murals by Awudu, found in various locations in Ghana and beyond. His art, ranging from murals and graffiti to traditional paintings, is intended to promote positive behavior and make the world a little more beautiful.
A few weeks ago we launched a fantastic line in collaboration with Heinen Delfts Blauw for the second time, called The Dutch Choice. In these roles, the power and art of Jaap Heinen takes the lead. In these beautiful designs, he brings his love for Chinese and Japanese Imari pottery to the fore and with this in mind, he brought Heinen Delfts Blauw to life.
And let's not forget the mega cool mascot, the EC box, called "The Match Winning Wipes". This edition contains rolls that are completely dedicated to the Netherlands! From the Dutch flag to a tompouce, each wrapper has a quote from a well-known person in the football world, including Virgil van Dijk and Johan Cruyff. One of the quotes is: 'We are running after the facts' from none other than Louis van Gaal.
So the next time you use a roll of The Good Roll, you know you're not just choosing sustainability, but also a good story and a smile - all wrapped up in one cheerful wrapper (and of course without a wink )!
