African Art Line x Mohammed Awudu
For a few years now, The Good Roll has been putting African art on the map with our African Art Line. We can’t get enough of this annual launch, because we believe that African art is not yet in the spotlight enough here in the Netherlands. So, what do we do? We give various African artists a stage on our awesome wrappers! Last year we had the honor to work with Kingsley Deffor, a street artist, who also designed an awesome African Art Line. This year we are joining forces with the one and only, Mohammed Awudu! Maybe this name sounds familiar to you and it certainly does. This is already the second time (!!!) that we are adding his art to our rolls.
Mohammed Awudu
With over 100 successful exhibitions and festivals to his name, Mohammed Awudu, better known as Moh Awudu, is a contemporary multi-talented visual artist, born and raised in Nima, a city in Accra, Ghana. Accra is great for its hospitality, diversity and famous landmarks. People from all over the world come here for adventure!
When Moh was younger, he was inspired by the colorful life in Africa. He saw that African women, despite problems, became stronger. They wanted equal opportunities and fought for them. Moh used this inspiration and his love of history in his art.
During his travels, Moh saw that many lies were told about his home country. He started a campaign to raise awareness about problems such as environmental pollution. In a fun way, he shared the traditions of Ghana and dreamed of a better future. Some call this Afro-Futurism - a great mix of history, culture and future!
The artwork on our six new African Art Line rolls are real murals that can be found in various locations in Ghana and beyond. Moh Awudu creates his art with the aim of influencing positive behaviour through the use of murals, graffiti and traditional paintings. His work often addresses the issues of child labour, education, child trafficking, sanitation and teenage pregnancy. His work is intended to give hope to all those affected by these social issues.
Mohammed is therefore not only a great artist, but also a great mentor.
His work has been admired and praised by many people. Even the King and Queen of England admired his work during their trip to Accra. He is now invited to create his artworks in various world cities all over the world.
Our African rolls!
In an ode to art that has the power to transform, inspire and push boundaries, we are proud to announce the launch of our newest store line: the African Art Line x Mohammed Awudu.
The inspiration behind this line? The sky is the limit! This wrap collection honors the limitless potential of human faith and creativity. It doesn’t matter where you come from; everyone has the power to rise above themselves. This time Mohammed Awudu focuses on women. With his work he wants to draw attention to social issues such as child labor, education, child trafficking, sanitation and teenage pregnancy.
Together we strive to inspire everyone who sees these works to dream big, the sky is the limit. Don’t be limited by what you already know; the greatest adventures begin outside your comfort zone. Your potential is endless. Every day offers a new opportunity to grow, learn and surpass yourself. Dare to dream!
We have decided to work together again because our values and mission fit together perfectly. Mohammed Awudu is actively committed to making the world a better place and is an ambassador for various projects that support the youth in Ghana. By joining forces again, we hope to spread even more positivity, inspire others and do even more to support the youth in Ghana.
Wipe right, change lives!
