The Good Roll Foundation Project lead
Locatie: Akosombo, Ghana
Startdatum: zo snel mogelijk
About The Good Roll Foundation
The Good Roll Foundation is an independent NGO connected to social enterprise The Good Roll and The Good Roll Africa. We build safe, circular toilets at schools in Ghana, supply hygiene products such as toilet paper and sanitary pads, and provide education on hygiene and menstruation. We transform organic waste through pyrolysis into biochar for organic fertiliser. These revenues are reinvested in the maintenance and expansion of toilets, our return on toilet. As an NGO, we do not make a profit and are dependent on funding. We receive 5% of the revenue from The Good Roll Ghana and 50% of the profits from The Good Roll BV in the Netherlands.
In addition, we rely on donations from individuals, companies, and fundraising.
Our goal: 500,000 toilets in Ghana before 2030, for 25 million people. Equal opportunities for everyone starts with dignity and access to clean and safe toilets.
The role
As Project Manager, you are the operational backbone of the Foundation, based in Ghana. In collaboration with our technical team, you coordinate the installation of dry system toilets at schools and co-develop the dry system toilets with our technical partner. Together with our Wash & Waste team, you coordinate waste management and the maintenance of toilets at schools. At the same time, you are the primary link to the headquarters in the Netherlands: you ensure that information, progress, and bottlenecks are communicated clearly and in a timely manner, and you are a solutions-oriented problem-solver who can get things done. You report to the Managing Director in the Netherlands and work closely with the Ghana team, local partners, and communities. This is an independent, responsible role in which you bring structure, anticipate challenges, and make things truly happen.
What you'll do
Daily operations & Team coordination
You start the day with an overview of ongoing projects and conduct operational check-ins with team members. You resolve bottlenecks, redistribute tasks where needed, and ensure that timelines remain realistic.
Project execution on the ground
You are responsible for the progress of all active projects in Ghana: construction of circular toilets at schools, distribution of hygiene products, MHM education, and the waste processing chain. You monitor implementation phases, identify risks early, and ensure that execution aligns with the plans.
Communication with the Netherlands
You are the daily bridge between Ghana and the Dutch team. You triage incoming questions, updates, and escalations, determine what can be resolved locally and what requires the MD's attention. You communicate clearly, concisely, and proactively.
Process development & reporting
You build and refine project plans, create budgets, operational roadmaps, budget overviews, and implementation frameworks. You ensure that reports/audits for donors, corporate partners, and internal reporting are ready before they are requested. You anticipate what will be needed in the weeks ahead. In short, you have a forward-looking mindset, love having an overview, and do this without being a micromanager.
Translating strategy into execution
You translate the MD's direction into concrete tasks with clear ownership. Annual plans become quarterly roadmaps, quarterly roadmaps become weekly actions. You monitor execution and ensure that decisions genuinely land in the team's day-to-day practice.
What you bring
● Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably in an NGO, development, or
social enterprise context
● Strong ability to translate strategy into concrete, actionable plans
● Experience with project management software (Monday.com or similar)
● Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
● Experience working in or for international organisations, preferably with a Dutch organisation
● Proactive, structured, and independent.
● Excellent at creating budgets and managing financial oversight
● Preferably a Bachelor level degree within the field of Business Administration
● Of course the most important: affinity with our mission
Important to note
This is not a remote position and requires relocation to Akosombo, Ghana. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover accommodation costs.
What you'll find here
A mission-driven organisation that makes real impact, 251 toilets built, 15,476 people reached daily, 8,288 girls supported with sanitary pads and education. You'll work in a close-knit, energetic, and international team, at the place where impact actually happens, within an organisation growing towards 1,000 circular toilets in 2026 and 500,000 by 2030.
